By Spotlight
- The 'get creative' magazine Creative Coordinator received one of these bags as a gift and asked the maker if we could feature it as a project.
- Final Result

- Materials
- • 20cm fabric
• 12cm (5”) zip
• matching thread
• rotary cutter, ruler & mat
• pins, tape measure
• scissors
• sewing machine - Step 1
- Cut 2 pieces of fabric 6 1/4” x 10 1/2” (16cm x 27cm). Turn one short end of each piece under 1/2” (1.5cm) and press.
Pin zip to one piece. Stitch zip in place using the zipper foot on your sewing machine. Place on a flat surface and pin other piece of fabric to zip making sure the sides are aligned. Stitch zip in place. - Step 2
- With right sides facing pin sides together then stitch using 1/2” (1.5cm) seam allowance. Open zip 1.5cm then pin and stitch bottom edges together using 1/2” (1.5cm) seam allowance.
- Step 3
- Clip corners, trim seams to 1/4” (6mm) and zigzag or overlock all edges. As rotary cutters will be placed in and out of the pouch frequently this will prevent seams from fraying. Turn right side out and press.
- Handy Hint
- Add a jump ring with a charm or a coloured ribbon to the zip pull.
