- Materials
- • Kaisercraft all purpose box
• paint - baby pink, napthol red light
• Kaisercraft scrapbook paper - monarch, long wing
• 8cm x 10mm ribbon
• PVA glue
• paint brush
• single hole punch
• craft knife, ruler & cutting mat
• Kaisercraft red droplets
• large rubber bands
• scissors - Step 1
- Paint
Bottom piece and lid of box red. Allow to dry. Top edges of all four sides red. Allow to dry. All remaining sides of the box pink. Allow to dry. - Step 2
- Lid
From butterfly side of monarch paper cut a piece 19cm wide x 16.5cm high. From the stripe side a piece 19cm long x 1.5cm high. Mix water with PVA and brush onto the back of the large butterfly piece. Glue to top of lid, smoothing out any bubbles. Glue striped strip of paper to the top edge of lid. Allow to dry.
Fold ribbon in half and glue to the underside of the lid in the middle, leaving enough of the loop overhanging to fit a finger inside.
Cut a piece from butterfly side of long wing paper 19cm wide x 16.5cm high.
From stripe side of monarch paper cut a piece 19cm long x 3cm high. Glue large butterfly piece to underneath of the lid, covering the ribbon ends and smoothing out any bubbles.
Glue the striped strip of paper to the top edge of the underneath of the lid. Allow to dry.
Embellish top of lid with small red droplets. - Step 3
- Sides
Cut a piece from butterfly side of long wing paper 17cm long x 10cm high for each side.
From stripe side of monarch paper cut a piece 17cm long x 3cm high for each side.
Place large piece of butterfly paper over each side, mark position of hole and using hole punch, punch hole through paper.
Glue large butterfly pieces to each side, matching holes and smoothing out any bubbles.
Glue striped strip to the bottom edge of each side. Allow to dry. - Step 4
- Front & back
Cut a piece from butterfly side of long wing paper 19cm long x 9cm high for front and 19cm long x 10cm high for back.
From stripe side of monarch paper cut a piece 19cm long x 3cm high for both front and back.
Glue large butterfly pieces to front and back and striped strip to the bottom edge of each. Smooth out any bubbles. Allow to dry.
Cut out part of a large butterfly from the monarch paper and glue to the front above striped paper.
Embellish with small red droplets. - Step 5
- Assemble
Slot back piece into base and glue using PVA glue. Slot one of the side pieces into base, glue into base and onto back piece. Slot in the opposite side piece.
Place lid into the holes on each side piece. Glue side piece to base and back piece. Slot in front piece and glue to base and side pieces.
Stretch large rubber band around box to hold together while glue is drying.
