Teepee -

• 4.2m x 150cm wide printed sheeting/canvas fabric
• 1m square of vinyl fabric
• 2.7m x 38mm of grosgrain ribbon
• 1.8m x 10mm of grosgrain ribbon
• 1.5m cord
• 4 x 150cm long conduit poles
• sewing thread
• scissors
• pins
• sewing machine
• tape measure/ruler
• iron

Inner cushion

• 1m square printed fabric
• 1m square polar fleece
• 1m square thick wadding
• 60cm zip
Step 1
Cut out 4 x triangles from fabric measuring 105cm along base and 150cm high. Measure down 15cm from the top of each triangle and cut straight across cutting off the point.
Step 2
Cut 1 triangle in half lengthways to create the 2 front door flaps. Cut 38mm grosgrain ribbon into two 135cm lengths. Press in half to create binding.
Step 3
Bind the straight cut edges of the 2 front door flaps, topstitching ribbon 2-3mm from ribbon edge. Sew a narrow 1cm hem along bottom edges of front door flaps. Hem the top cut edges of all triangles and front door flaps, by pressing under 1cm then another 1cm. Topstitch in place.
Step 4
With wrong sides together, pin two of the triangles together along one of the angled sides, matching stripes. Sew together with a 1cm seam allowance. Press seam flat.
Step 5
Turn fabric over so that now the right sides are together. Pin and sew another seam measuring 27mm from the first seam. This will create pocket for conduit poles.
Step 6
Repeat steps 4 & 5, to connect the 3 triangles together, with the front flaps one on each side.
Step 7
Attach teepee sides to vinyl base by sewing base edges of triangles to vinyl square with a 1cm seam allowance pivoting at corners. Clip back corner seams and trim any excess vinyl from seams to same size as fabric seam.
Step 8
Cut 10mm wide ribbon into 6 x 30cm lengths. Hem one raw cut edge of each ribbon length. Fold under the other end and pin to the inside of the bound edge of each front door flap, first tie 30cm from bottom, 2nd 70cm from bottom and 3rd 20cm from top. Topstitch in place.

Lay teepee flat sideways and carefully slide conduit poles into seam pockets. Stand teepee upright, overlapping exposed pole ends to hold teepee firmly upright. Wrap and weave cord through and around exposed pole ends to hold firmly in place.
Step 9
Inner cushion

With right sides together, pin polar fleece square to printed fabric square. Sew together with a 1cm seam allowance leaving 60cm open in the middle of one of the sides. Clip corners and turn right side out. Pin then sew zip in place in the 60cm gap left in one of the sides. Fill inner cushion with wadding square.

Tip: If you want a thicker cushion, use a double layer of wadding.
Note
4.2m fabric required if matching patterns on fabric such as stripes or a one way pattern. If not matching patterns, you will need 2.1m x 150cm wide fabric.

    • These teepee's are so cute and these are becoming very popular on the market, how much does it cost for the materials to make it yourself? So I can compare to buying instore. So much these days are cheaper just to buy instore as they're made bulk or offshore so the hobbys at home get less and less sadly.
