Materials

• 1 pair each 3.25mm (UK 10) and 2.75mm (UK 12) knitting needles or size needed to give correct tension.
• cable needle.
• wool needle for sewing seams.
• 5 (6-7-8-9) buttons.

Step 1

TENSION
27 sts and 42 rows to 10cm over double moss st, using 3.25mm needles.
To work a tension square, using 3.25mm needles, cast on 41 sts.
1st row – K1, * P1, K1, rep from * to end.
2nd row – P1, * K1, P1, rep from * to end.
3rd row – As 2nd row.
4th row – As 1st row.
Work a further 60 rows patt. Cast off loosely.
Check your tension carefully.
If less sts to 10cm use smaller needles, if more sts use bigger needles.

Step 2

Diamond Patt Panel (worked over 32 sts)
1st row – P2, Cable, P7, C2R, C2L, P7, Cable, P2.
2nd row and foll alt rows – Knit all knit sts and purl all purl sts as they appear.

Work 35 (39-41-43-45) rows patt.

Step 6

Shape Shoulders –
Keeping patt correct, cast off 8 (9-10-11-11) sts at beg of next 4 rows, then 8 (10-10-10-10) sts at beg of foll 2 rows.
Cast off rem 25 (25-25-27-31) sts in patt.

Step 7

LEFT FRONT
Using 2.75mm needles, cast on 27 (31-35-39-43) sts.
Work 11 (11-15-15-19) rows rib as for Back.

Shape Neck –

DO NOT PRESS. Join side and sleeve seams. Sew in sleeves. Using a flat seam, sew front bands in position. Sew on buttons. Using a flat seam, sew collar in position, beg and ending at centre of front bands.
