Basic Butter Frosting mix - Step 1
- Take a 12 hole muffin or cupcake pan and wipe out each hole ensuring it is completely dry and free from any oil or residue. Place one foil cupcake case in each hole ensuring you have a good selection of red, green and gold.

- Step 2
- Make up your cake batter mix (if you are in a hurry, I really like the White Wings Golden Buttercake cake mix) and spoon approximately 1 tbs into each cupcake pan. Bake according to recipe. Meanwhile, make up your butter frosting.
- Step 3
- Add a few drops of Vanilla Flavour to the butter frosting icing and mix in. This will give the cupcakes that extra yummy taste of creamy vanilla without tinting your icing. Once the cupcakes are cooked allow them to cool
- Step 4
- Ice your cupcakes. I used a Wiltons #21 Star tip. Its nice and big and gives those lovely professional swirls. Start from the outside of the cupcake and pipe a complete circle around. Next do a smaller circle slightly overlapping the first, and keep repeating until the cupcake is covered. You can also just do it as one continuous motion if you prefer.
- Step 5
- Now the fun bit. Place a star cupcake candy on top of each cupcake. The yellow stars go really well with the gold, but you can mix and match depending on the look you are after.

- Step 6
- Open each pot of Decorators Glitter Sparkle dust. Using a paint brush or new toothbrush, dip it into the pot so that the bristles are covered. Then lightly tap the edge of the handle over the cupcake, so that the sparkle dust sprinkles over the top of the cupcake. You are after that "fairy dust" effect.

- Step 7
- Arrange your cupakes onto a cupcake stand or platter, This stand is great because it packs down flat for easy storage.
Now try to resist eating them until you guests arrive!!
