- Materials
- • thick unbleached cotton fabric
• tracing paper & wooden spatula
• synthetic felt
• a pencil and scissors
• a medium and fine round brush
• Pébéo Line Red (2) & White (5)
• Pébéo Sétacolour Colours: LIGHT GREEN, VERMILION, TITANIUM WHITE. - Step 1
- Preparation
Draw various shapes of Christmas trees and stars on tracing paper.
Copy designs onto square of clean, thick and unbleached cotton fabric by scraping the back of the tracing with a small wooden spatula. - Step 2
- Template
Cut around your shape about 5mm from your tracing.
Place a double thickness of synthetic felt of the same shape on a piece of the same fabric.
Then place your cut-out shape on top of it and pin the three thicknesses together.
Machine sew along the outline with dark thread, inserting a raffia loop or a fine cord, at the top which can be used to hang the object on the tree.
Then carefully cut out your Christmas tree 2mm from the outline. - Step 3
- Colouring
In 2 small dishes, prepare the Pébéo Sétacolour Opaque paint by diluting well with water.
Use a medium brush to apply the colour to the inside of the sewn pattern, leaving the outside border unpainted. Allow to dry.
Paint the second side in the same way.
Make the decorations, dots or garlands using a fine round brush.
The thickness of the dot or line will depend on how heavily you press with the brush. - Step 4
- Finishing
Allow to air dry for 1 hour then fix with an iron (cotton position), for 5 minutes, on the reverse side of the fabric. - Step 5
- Clean Up
Wash all brushes clean in luke warm soapy water.
