Crochet motif collar necklace

“Not your grandma’s crochet” is a term that gets thrown around a lot lately & this artistic, alluring creation shows you why. Dress up transeasonal garments, draw attention to the wearer’s face and, of course, expand your crochet skills with this wonderfully modern project.
Final Result
Materials
• 1 x 50g ball ‘Basics’ Pure Wool 8ply in ea of 3 colours
• 4.00mm crochet hook
• button
• yarn needle, scissors
Step 1
Choker
Foundation row: Using 4mm hook and 1st colour, ch71. Turn. Row 1: 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. Row 2: Join 2nd colour, 5ch, 1tr into 1st dc, *1ch, miss 1 dc, 1tr into next dc; rep from * across. Turn. Row 3: Join 3rd colour, 1ch, 2dc in each 1-ch space to end, leaving last 5-ch free (as button hole). Fasten off.
Step 2
Motif A (make 2 of each colour) Using 4mm crochet hook, work 4ch and join with a sl st to form a ring. Rnd 1: 1ch, 9dc in ring, join with a sl st to first ch. Rnd 2: 4ch, *1tr in next dc, 1ch, rep from * to end, join with a sl st in 3rd ch at beg. Fasten off leaving a 20cm long end to attach to necklace.
Step 3
Motif B (make 2 of one colour and 1 of each remaining colours)
Using 4mm crochet hook, work 10ch and join with a sl st to form a ring. Rnd 1: 1ch, 22dc in ring, join with a sl st to first ch. Rnd 2: 5ch, miss 1 dc, 1tr in next dc, *2ch, miss 1 dc, 1tr in next dc, rep from * to end, join with a sl st in 3rd ch at beg. Rnd 3: 1ch, 4dc in each 2-ch space to end, join with a sl st to first ch. Fasten off leaving a 20cm long end to attach to necklace.
Step 4
Finishing
Lay out motifs as shown and sew together. Sew to neckband. Weave in loose ends. Sew button in place.

rep = repeat
sl st = slip stitch
beg = beginning
Rnd = round
Variations
Using 1 colour, make less motifs and assemble as pictured.

    • I love to crochet and knit at home, personally however have seen patterns like these in the past and I think this is one of the better ones. It is great to see many sucessful women holding down businesses in the crafts and designs industry.
