Final Result
Materials
• ‘Moda Vera’ Pure Wool 8Ply 50g balls as per size
• 1 pair 3.25mm Knitting Needles
• 1 pair 6.00mm Knitting Needles
• Scissors, Yarn Needle, Tape Measure
Step 1
Tension
16 sts x 24 rows to 10cm over stocking st using 6.00mm needles.

*** Note: garment is worked in Reverse stocking st, shaping worked on WS (knit) row.

STRIPE PATTERN
BODY - C1: 2 rows, C2: 8 (10, 12) rows, *C1: 2 rows, C3: 6 rows, C4: 4 rows MC: 6 rows, C1: 2 rows, C2: 4 rows, Rep from * until complete.

SLEEVES - C2: 2 (4, 6) rows, *C1: 2 rows, C3: 6 rows, C4: 4 rows, MC: 6 rows, C1: 2 rows, C2: 4 rows, Rep from * until complete.

HOOD - C3: 4 (6, 8) rows, C1: 2 rows, C2: 4 rows, C1: 2 rows, MC: 6 rows, C4: 4 rows, C3: 6 rows.

Note: Do not change yarn for cast off row.
Step 2
BACK
Using 6.00mm needles and MC, cast on 48 (52, 56) sts, work 14 rows of stocking st, beg with a knit row.
Foll stripe patt for the body, work first 13 (15, 17) rows.

Shaping
Keeping stripe patt correct dec 1 st at each end of this and foll 8th rows, 3 times [42 (46, 50) sts].
Work a further 19 rows of stripe patt.

Armhole Shaping
Cont keeping stripe patt correct -
Row 1: K2, K2tog, K to last 4 sts, sl 1, K1, psso, K2.
Row 2 and all even rows: Purl.
Row 3 : As Row 1.
Row 5: As Row 1.
Work 3 rows.
Repeat Row 1 once more [34 (38, 42) sts].
Foll stripe patt work 12 (14, 16) rows.

Back Neck Shaping
Keeping stripe patt correct, P10 (11, 12), turn.
Knit 1 row.
Dec 1 st at end (neck edge) of this and foll alt row once more [8 (9, 10) sts].
Knit 1 row.
Cast off.

Rejoin matching yarn to rem sts, cast off 14 (16, 18) sts for neck.

If necessary change to colour for stripe patt, work 2 rows.
Dec 1 st at beg (neck edge) of this and foll alt row once more [8 (9, 10) sts].
Work 1 row.
Cast off.
Step 3
LEFT FRONT
Using 6.00mm needles and MC, cast on 24 (26, 28) sts, work 14 rows of stocking st, beg with a knit row.
Foll stripe patt for body, work first 13 (15, 17) rows.*

Shaping
Keeping stripe patt correct dec 1 st end of this and foll 8th rows, 3 times 21 (23, 25) sts].
Work a further 19 rows of stripe patt.

Armhole Shaping
Keeping stripe patt correct.
Row 1: K to last 4 sts, sl 1, K1, psso, K2.
Row 2 and all even rows: Purl.
Row 3: As Row 1.
Row 5: As Row 1.
Work 3 rows.
Repeat Row 1 once more [17 (19, 21) sts].
Work 5 (7, 9) rows foll stripe patt.

Neck Shaping
Keeping stripe patt correct, cast off 4 sts at beg of next row.
Dec 1 st at end (neck edge) of this and foll alt rows until 8 (9, 10) sts rem.
Cont without shaping, until work measures same as for back to shoulder cast off, ending with a knit row.
Cast off.
Step 4
RIGHT FRONT
Work same as for Left to *.

Shaping
Keeping stripe patt correct, dec 1 st beg of this and foll 8th rows, 3 times 21 (23, 25) sts].
Work a further 19 rows of stripe patt.

Armhole Shaping
Keeping stripe patt correct -
Row 1: K2, K2tog, knit to end.
Row 2 and all even rows: Purl.
Row 3: As Row 1.
Row 5: As Row 1.
Work 3 rows.
Repeat Row 1 once more [17 (19, 21) sts].
Work 6 (8, 10) rows foll stripe patt.

Neck Shaping
Keeping stripe patt correct, cast off 4 sts at beg of next row.
Dec 1 st at end (neck edge) of this and foll alt rows until 8 (9, 10) sts rem.
Cont without shaping, until work measures same as for back to shoulder cast off, ending with a purl row.
Cast off.
Step 5
SLEEVES - Make 2
Using 6.00mm needles and MC, cast on 26 (28, 30) sts, work 14 rows stocking st, beg with a knit row.
Foll stripe patt for Sleeves, work first 7 (9, 11) rows.

Shaping
Keeping stripe patt correct inc 1 st each end of this and foll 6th rows, until there are 36 (38, 40) sts.
Work a further 9 rows of stripe patt.
(**Note: Stripes should be aligned with stripes on Back/Front before armhole shaping).

Armhole Shaping
Keeping stripe patt correct -
Row 1: K2, K2tog, K to last 4 sts, sl 1, K, psso, K2.
Work 3 rows.
Row 5: As Row 1.
Work 3 rows.
Row 9: As Row 1.
Work 1 row.
Cont dec as established on this and alt rows until 18 sts rem.
Work 1 row.
Cast off.
Step 6
LEFT HOOD
Using 6.00mm needles and C3, cast on 24 (26, 28) sts, and foll stripe patt for hood, complete 10 rows, beg with a purl row.

Back Hood Shaping
Keeping stripe patt correct inc 1 st at beg of this and foll 6th rows, until there are 27 (30, 32) sts.
Work a further 20 (22, 24) rows of stripe patt.

Crown Shaping
Dec 1 st at beg of this row.
Dec 1 st at end of next row.
Cont to dec 1 st at crown shaping edge every row until 17 sts rem.
Cast off.
Step 7
RIGHT HOOD
Using 6.00mm needles and C3, cast on 24 (26, 28) sts, and foll stripe patt for hood, complete 10 rows, starting with a purl row.

Back Hood Shaping
Keeping stripe patt correct inc 1 st at end of this and foll 6th rows, until there are 27 (30, 32) sts.
Work a further 20 (22, 24) rows of stripe patt.

Crown Shaping
Dec 1 st at end of this row.
Dec 1 st at beg of next row.
Cont dec 1 st at crown shaping edge every row until 17 sts rem.
Cast off.
Step 8
FRONT BANDS
Fold up bottom hem with purl side showing and sew together at front edge.
Using 3.25mm needles and MC cast on 77 (81, 85) sts.
Work 15 rows of stocking st, beg with a knit row.
Knit one more row.
Cut yarn leaving a 70cm tail.

Pin band to Front edge, by laying flat over front edge, a stitch in.
Using yarn needle, attach band by inserting yarn through back of front, then through first stitch, repeat along front securing all stitches, dropping stitch off needle as you go.
** Note: Needle may not be the length of the front edge, so pin half first, and then as stitches are dropped, reminder can be pinned to front.

Repeat for other side.
Step 9
HOOD BAND
Using 3.25mm needles and MC cast on 118 (126, 134) sts.
Work 15 rows of stocking st, beg with a knit row.
Knit one more row.
Cut yarn leaving a 70cm tail.
Join hood seam.
Attach to Front edge of hoods as for front bands.
Step 10
FINISHING
With RS (purl side) together, pin and stitch shoulder seams.
Pin and sew side and sleeve seams.
Set in sleeves.
Pin and sew hood to neck line.
Fold back front bands and secure along base on both sides.
Weave in loose ends.

Variations
• Toggles with crocheted chain can be added to front.

• Contrast yarn can be used to embellish garment with flowers or shapes sewn in thick strip sections.
