Materials

Approx size: 35cm x 26cm

• 2 x 50g balls Panda Machinewash 8ply crepe - beige, brown
• 5.50mm crochet hook
• Scissors
• Yarn needle

Step 1

Using 5.50mm hook and brown yarn work 3ch and join with a sl st in 1st ch to form a ring.

Rnd 1: 5ch, 3tr in ring, *2ch for cnr, 3tr in ring; repeat from * twice, 2ch, 2tr, join with sl st into 3rd ch of st-ch, sl st into 2-ch cnr, turn.
Rnd 2: 5ch, 3tr in same 2-ch cnr, * 1ch, (3tr, 2ch for cnr, 3tr) in next 2-ch cnr, repeat from * twice, 1ch, 2tr in next 2-ch cnr, join with sl st into 3rd ch of st-ch, sl st into 2-ch cnr, turn.
Rnd 3: Change to beige, 5ch, 3tr in same 2-ch cnr, * 1ch, 3tr in 1-ch sp, 1ch, (3tr, 2ch for cnr, 3tr) in 2-ch cnr, repeat from * twice, 1ch, 3tr in 1-ch sp, 2tr in next 2-ch cnr, join with sl st into 3rd ch of st-ch, sl st into 2-ch cnr.
Rnd 4: 5ch, 3tr in same 2-ch cnr, * (1ch, 3tr in 1-ch sp) twice, 1ch, (3tr, 2ch for cnr, 3tr) in 2-ch cnr, repeat from * twice, (1ch, 3tr in next 1-ch sp) twice, 1ch, 2tr in next 2-ch sp, join with sl st into 3rd ch of st-ch, slst into 2-ch cnr.

Work 4 more rounds in pattern as established, adding an extra (1ch, 3tr in 1-ch sp) for each side in each round.
Fasten off.

**Join beige yarn with sl st in any corner and work 1dc, (1tr in each of next 3 tr, 1tr in 1-ch sp) repeat to next corner, finishing with 1tr in that corner, turn.
1dc, 1ch in 1st tr, 1tr in each tr to 1st dc, turn.
1dc, 1ch in 1st tr, 1tr in each tr to 1st dc, fasten off.

Turn work around and repeat from ** for the opposite side.

Step 2

Border

Join brown yarn with sl st into any corner, 1ch, 3htr in same cnr, work one row of htr along all sides, working 3htr in each corner, sl st into 1st htr. 1dc in same st as sl st, 1dc in each st around the mat emembering to work 2dc in the middle htr of each cnr.
Fasten off and sew in ends.
