‘Moda Vera’ PURE WOOL 8ply 50g balls as per size
1 pair 5.00mm knitting needles
1 pair 4.00mm knitting needles
Cable needle
Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure

Step 1

BACK
Using 4.00mm needles cast on 100 (104, 108, 110) sts, work 4 rows of 2 x 2 rib as follows:
Row 1: K1, (P2, K2) to last 3 sts, P2, K1.
Row 2: P1, (K2, P2) to last 3 sts, K2, P1.
Change to 5.00mm needles, work 12 rows of stocking st.

Step 2

Waist Shaping
Dec 1 st at each end of this and foll 6th rows until 76 (82, 86, 92) sts rem.
Cont without shaping until work measures 45 (46, 47, 48)cm from beg, ending with a purl row.

Step 3

Shape for Sleeves
Cast on 6 sts at beg of next 2 rows ... 88 (94, 98, 104) sts.
With 4 rows stocking st.
Inc 1 st at each end of this and foll 6th rows until there are 100 (106, 110, 116) sts.
Cont without shaping until work measures 62 (64, 66, 68)cm from beg, ending with a purl row.

Step 4

Shape Shoulders
Cast off 4 sts at beg of next 16 (16, 18, 18) rows. Cast off rem 36 (42, 38, 44) sts.

Step 5

LEFT FRONT
Using 4.00mm needles cast on 54 (56, 58, 60) sts, work 4 rows of 2 x 2 rib same as for back.
Change to 5.00mm needles, knit one row.
Shape Front
Rows 1&2: P6, turn, sl 1, knit to end.
Rows 3&4: P12, turn, sl 1, knit to end.
Rows 5&6: P18, turn, sl 1, knit to end.
Rows 7&8: P24, turn, sl 1, knit to end.
Rows 9&10: P30, turn, sl 1, knit to end.
Rows 11&12: P36, turn, sl 1, knit to end.
Rows 13&14: P2tog, P40, turn, sl 1, knit to end.
Rows 15&16: P47, turn, sl 1, knit to end.
Purl across all sts.

Step 6

Side Shaping
Dec 1 st at beg (side edge) of this, then every 6th row 12 times in all, AT THE SAME TIME, dec 1 st at the end (front edge) in this, then every 6th row, until work measures same as for back to sleeve shaping, ending with a purl row.

Step 7

Shape Sleeves
Cont dec at neck edge every 6th row and cast on 6 sts at beg of the next row, work 5 rows of stocking st.
Inc 1 st at beg of this and foll 6th rows 5 more times. Cont without sleeve shaping until work measures same as for back, AT THE SAME TIME, cont to dec at neck edge every 6th row until 32 (32, 36, 36) sts rem, ending with a purl row.
Cast off 4 sts at beg of this and foll alt rows 8 (8, 9, 9) times.

Step 8

RIGHT FRONT
Using 4.00mm needles, cast on 54 (56, 58, 60) sts, work 4 rows of 2 x 2 rib same as for back.
Change to 5.00mm needles.
Shape Front
Rows 1&2: K6, turn, sl 1, purl to end.
Rows 3&4: K12, turn, sl 1, purl to end.
Rows 5&6: K18, turn, sl 1, purl to end.
Rows 7&8: K24, turn, sl 1, purl to end.
Rows 9&10: K30, turn, sl 1, purl to end.
Rows 11&12: K36, turn, sl 1, purl to end.
Rows 13&14: K2tog, K40, turn, sl 1, purl to end.
Rows 15&16: K47, turn, sl 1, purl to end.
Work 2 rows across all sts.

Step 9

Side Shaping
Dec 1 st at beg (front edge) of this and every 6th row, AT THE SAME TIME,[dec 1 st at the end (side edge) of this and every 6th row 12 times in all (side edge only)] until work measures same as for back to sleeve shaping, ending with a knit row.

Step 10

Shape Sleeves
Cont dec at neck edge every 6th row and cast on 6 sts at beg of the next row, work 4 rows of stocking st.
Inc 1 st at the end of this row and foll 6th rows 5 more times. Work without sleeve shaping until work 6th row until there are 32(32, 36, 36) sts, ending with a knit row.
Cast off 4 sts at beg of this and alt rows 8 (8, 9, 9) times.

Step 11

CABLE INSERT – Make 2
Using 5.00mm needles, cast on 19 sts.
Row 1: P3, K6, P1, K6, P3.
Row 2: K3, P6, K1, P6, K3.
Repeat last 2 rows, twice more.
Cable Row: P3, slip next 3 sts on cable needle and place at back of work, K3, then K3 from cable needle, P1, slip next 3 sts on cable needle and place at front of work, K3, then K3 from cable needle.
Repeat Row 2, then repeat both rows 1 & 2, 4 more times.
Last 10 rows, form Cable patt. Repeat patt 4 more times, 5 cables in all.
Cast off loosely.

Step 12

FRONT BAND
Using 5.00mm needles cast on 32 (32, 36, 36) sts, work in 2 x 2 rib until work measures 200 (204, 208, 212)cm from beg. Cast off loosely in rib.

Step 13

SLEEVE CUFFS
With right sides facing, join fronts to back at the shoulders using cable insert, easing insert to fit. Using 5.00mm needles knit up 82 (86, 90, 94) sts along insert and sleeve edges of front and back. Work 12cm of 2 x 2 rib. Cast off loosely in rib.

Step 14

FINISHING
Pin and sew sleeve cuff, underarm and side seams. Pin and sew band around front edges, easing around back neck. Weave in loose ends.

Step 15

CABLE INSERT – Make 2
Using 5.00mm needles, cast on 19 sts.
Row 1: P3, K6, P1, K6, P3.
Row 2: K3, P6, K1, P6, K3.
Repeat last 2 rows, twice more.
Cable Row: P3, slip next 3 sts on cable needle and place at back of work, K3, then K3 from cable needle, P1, slip next 3 sts on cable needle and place at front of work, K3, then K3 from cable needle.
Repeat Row 2, then repeat both rows 1 & 2, 4 more times.
Last 10 rows, form Cable patt. Repeat patt 4 more times, 5 cables in all.
Cast off loosely.

Step 16

FRONT BAND
Using 5.00mm needles cast on 32 (32, 36, 36) sts, work in 2 x 2 rib until work measures 200 (204, 208, 212)cm from beg. Cast off loosely in rib.

Step 17

SLEEVE CUFFS
With right sides facing, join fronts to back at the shoulders using cable insert, easing insert to fit. Using 5.00mm needles knit up 82 (86, 90, 94) sts along insert and sleeve edges of front and back. Work 12cm of 2 x 2 rib. Cast off loosely in rib.

Step 18

FINISHING
Pin and sew sleeve cuff, underarm and side seams. Pin and sew band around front edges, easing around back neck. Weave in loose ends.
