Materials

‘Moda Vera’ BOUVARDIA 100g balls as per size
1 pair 5.50mm knitting needles
1 pair 6.00mm knitting needles
5.50mm circular knitting needles (40cm for neck, 80cm for side bands)
Row markers
Stitch holders
Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure
10 x 20mm buttons

Step 1

BACK
Using 5.50mm knitting needles cast on 52 (56, 64, 72, 80, 88) sts.
Work in K2, P2 rib for 14 rows.
Change to 6.00mm needles and work in stocking st until piece measures 33.5 (35, 36, 37.5, 38.5, 40)cm; [approx 60 (64, 66, 70, 72, 74) rows].
Place underarm markers.
Cont in stocking st until work measures 54.5 (56, 58.5, 61, 63.5, 66)cm; [approx 106 (110, 114, 120, 126, 132) rows].

Step 2

Shape Shoulders
Cast off 12 (13, 16, 19, 22, 25) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Place rem 28 (30, 32, 34, 36, 38) sts on stitch holder.

Step 3

FRONT
Work same as for Back.

Step 4

NECK
Join shoulder seams.
Using 5.50mm x 40cm circular needle knit across 28 (30, 32, 34, 36, 38) sts from back neck holder then 28 (30, 32, 34, 36, 38) sts from front neck holder.
Join in the round and work in K2, P2 rib until funnel neck measures 17.5 (17.5, 17.5, 17.5, 18, 18)cm from beg. Cast off all sts loosely.

Step 5

LEFT SIDE BAND
Using 5.50mm x 80cm circular needle and with right side facing knit up all sts along side of the front and back piece of vest. Do not join, work in rows. Work in K2, P2 rib for 5 rows.*
Buttonhole Rows
Note: Buttonholes should be worked on front band of vest only.
Row 6: K2, [P2tog, yon, rib 10 (10, 12, 12, 14, 14)] 5 times, (K2, P2) to end.
Rows 7-10: Work in K2, P2 rib.
Cast off all sts loosely.

Step 6

RIGHT SIDE BAND
Work as for left side band to *.
Row 6: Work in rib to last 52 (52, 60, 60, 68, 68) sts [P2tog, yon, K10 (10, 12, 12, 14, 14)] 4 times, P2tog, yon, K2.
Rows 7-10: Work in K2, P2 rib.
Cast off all sts loosely.

Step 7

FINISHING
Sew buttons onto back band to match buttonholes. Weave in all ends.
