12 x 50g balls 1st Colour (C1)
7 x 50g balls 2nd Colour (C2)
11 x 50g balls 3rd Colour (C3)
A pair 4.00mm (US 6), (UK 8) Knitting Needles; A 4.00mm (US 6), (UK 8) Circular Needle or size that give correct tension/ gauge.
A Yarn Needle. - Step 1
- Poncho (knitted sideways)
Using 4.00mm (US 6), (UK 8) Circular Needle and C1, cast on 280 sts.
Note - Work in rows not rounds. Knit in garter st (1st row is WS) stripes of 5 cms/2 ins using C1, 5 cms/2 ins using C2 and 10 cms/4 ins using C3 (20 cms/8 ins in total) until work measures 40 cms/16 ins from beg, ending with 10 cms/4 ins using C3 on WS.
Using C1,
Next row (RS) - K53, cast off 6 sts, K162, cast off 6 sts, K53.
Next row - K53, turn, cast on 6 sts, turn, K162, turn, cast on 6 sts, turn, K53 = tie holes.
Cont in garter st stripes until work measures 50 cms/20 ins from beg, ending with 5 cms/2 ins using C2 on WS.
Divide for neck - Using C3, Next row (RS) - K140, turn.
Cont on these 140 sts for 10 cms/4 ins, working last row on WS.
Using C1, work for 10 cms/4 ins, working last row on RS.
Leave sts on a spare needle. Break off yarn.
With RS facing, join C3 to rem sts on needle.
Cont on these 140 sts for 10 cms/4 ins, working last row on WS.
Using C1, work for 10 cms/4 ins, working last row on RS.
Using C1, Next row (WS) - K140, then knit across 140 sts from spare needle = 280 sts.
Cont in garter st stripes of 5 cms/2 ins using C2, 5 cms/2 ins using C3 and 10 cms/4 ins using C1 (20 cms/8 ins in total) until work measures 80 cms/32 ins from beg, ending with 5 cms/2ins using C3 on WS.
Using C1, Next row - K53, cast off 6 sts, K162, cast off 6 sts, K53. Next row - K53, turn, cast on 6 sts, turn, K162, turn, cast on 6 sts, turn, K53 = tie holes.
Cont in garter stripes until work measures 120 cms/48 ins from beg, ending with 5 cms/2 ins using C3 on WS. Using C3, cast/bind off loosely knitways. - Step 2
- Tie Using pair 4.00mm (US 6), (UK 8) Needles and C1, cast on 8 sts. Knit in garter st (1st row is WS) until work measures 200 cms/80 ins from beg, working last row on WS. Cast/bind off knitways.

Using yarn needle, darn in all ends. Fold poncho/wrap in half so side edges meet at lower edge. Thread tie through tie holes at waist and tie in a bow at front. - Note
