Materials

• Gütermann sewing thread - natural &/white
• sewing machine
• optional - overlocker
• scissors
• pins, tape measure
• 1.3m natural linen shirting
• 12 x 12mm heart buttons to match
• 4 x 15mm round buttons
• hand needle
• 61cm x 61cm cushion insert

Step 1

From natural linen shirting cut 12 strips 65cm x 11cm and two 65cm x 39cm rectangles. Neaten one 65cm edge of each rectangle by turning under 1.5cm. Press and sew or overlock.

Step 2

Fray both long sides of 8 strips and one long side of each of remaining 4 strips.

Step 3

Working on a flat surface with fabric right side up weave all the strips together to make the front of the cover. Make sure the non-frayed long strips are on the outside edges. Do not remove the pins.

Step 4

Place one half of the back face down, hemmed edge in the centre. Repeat overlapping remaining back piece in the centre. Pin and sew around all four edges, turn right side out and press.

Step 5

Sew on buttons and insert cushion.
